In addition to our online job board, we have six employment programs to help you jump start your career: Youth Job Connection, Youth Job Connection - Student Program, Youth Job Link, Retail Career Pathway PEAK BASICS Program, netWORKS and Opportunity Knocks.

Youth Job Connection

Youth Job Connection

Youth Job Connection is a paid youth employment program designed to offer skills training, work experience, mentorship and support with establishing career goals.

The program helps you:

  • build skills including leadership, teamwork, conflict management and job-readiness

  • acquire substantial work experience of up to six months (full-time or part-time)

  • access supports for items such as transportation, work clothing, equipment and supplies

  • connect with an Employment Advisor and Job Coach throughout the whole process to ensure your success in the program

Eligibility:

  • must be between 15 and 29 years of age

  • in need of assistance to overcome barriers finding and keeping a job

  • out of school and out of work on a full-time basis

Youth Job Connection - Student Program

The Youth Job Connection - Student Program is a paid youth employment program designed to offer skills training, work experience and support for young people who are still in school and need a job.

Here's what you get: 

  • paid part-time job placement throughout the school year

  • 20 hours paid interactive workshops

  • staff support before, during and after the job placement

Eligibility:

  • must be between 15 and 18 years of age

  • be in school

  • need support to find and keep a job

Retail Career Pathway PEAK BASICS Program

Retail Career Pathway Peak Basics Program

Retail Career Pathway PEAK BASICS is a paid 16 week program designed for youth who are not-in-school or working.

The program helps you:

  • earn a PEAK Retail Training Certificate
  • learn about customer service, retail selling and retail leadership fundamentals
  • get a job and gain experience
  • learn about your Worker Rights and Responsibilities and how to effectively manage conflict
  • set long-term career goals
  • ensure success with continued support and professional guidance by a Job Developer

Eligibility:

  • must be between 17 and 29 years of age
  • in need of assistance to overcome barriers to finding and keeping a job
  • out-of-school and out-of-work on a full-time basis
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a protected person

netWORKS

netWORKS

Building Connections. Creating Opportunities.

Are you between 18 and 29 years old and excited about getting your career started?

netWORKS is a new way to make connections with mentors who can help you get your career off the ground.

netWORKS offers you opportunities to:

  •  Meet new career role models and expand your professional network
  •  Build your confidence
  •  Get real-world advice about how to find a job
  •  Get information about the corporate work environment
  •  Get constructive feedback about your career ideas and your job search

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Are between 18 to 29 years old
  • Working less than an average of 20 hours a week
  • Not in training or education
  • Have minimum Grade 10 English or equivalent

Opportunity Knocks

Opportunity Knocks is a paid 16 week program designed for youth who are not in school and out of work

Here's what you get with Opportunity Knocks:

  • 4 weeks paid training
  • 12 weeks paid job placement
  • certification in Food Handling, Smart Serve and Service Excellence
  • information about worker rights and responsibilities 
  • help with long-term career goals
  •  continued support and professional guidance from our Job Developer

Eligibility:

  • must be between 15 and 30 years of age
  • in need of assistance to overcome barriers to finding and keeping a job
  • out of school and out of work on a full-time basis
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a protected person
  • not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits (or have not received EI in last three years)
