Back to basics
Lydia Martin was falling through the cracks of the mainstream school system. Expelled from high school in grade nine, she turned to our Youth Services program for help. That’s where she found REPLAY.
An alternative education program, REPLAY operates in partnership with the Toronto District School Board. It offers a creative learning environment that engages high-risk youth who have dropped out or been expelled from school. At the same time, the program addresses the underlying reasons why these youth are disengaged and in trouble.
“The staff in St. Stephen’s REPLAY program took the initiative to understand me. To find a fit for me. Because of them, I got my high school credits. After the boost the program gave me, I worked through a co-op placement and was accepted into a registered nursing program. It’s safe to say without St. Stephen’s; I would not be where I am today.”
